Stock Options (Chinese Rengouzheng)
People's Republic of China issued its first stock in the end of 1980's, and in the first half
1990's, the stock option came to the market. At that time, there were no electronic
transaction system. So all the stock options were paper-made. And after 1994, the
electronic system came to the stock exchange house. The paper stock and paper stock
option sheet came out of the history. It is said that there exits about 170 different types
of Chinese Stock Options, and many of them are quite rare.

The Chinese names of STOCK OPTION is also "Rengouzheng", which is issued by kind of
stock options, and them to purchase the shares of IPO companies.

The first group includes 4 different types. They are just different names,
but the same issuing ways.  According to the Regulation of Dec 17, 1992
(published by central government of China), the issuing of "Share
subscription Certificate" is the only way of IPO. The investor first purchase
underwriter. Only those drawn "Share subscription Certificate" got the
option to purchase one lot of the IPO shares. One lot is 1000 shares or 500
shares.  
issuing new listed stocks. The first way was issuing "Share Subscription
Certificate". The second way was through deposit and lottery. So the group
two appeared. The investor first deposited the IPO cash in the banks for 3
months or 6 months, and got a piece of "Certificate of Time Deposit". After
3 months or 6 months, a lottery is held by underwriter. Those drawn
"Certificate of Time Deposit" could exchange a piece of "Lot Form". The
issuing day. Some companies had both Type 5 and type 6. But some others
had only Type 5. That is the investor can purchase the shares directly by
the drawn "Certificate of Time Deposit", and did not need to exchange for a
"Lot Form".

In 1994, the electronic system was introduced by Exchange House both in
Shanghai and Shenzhen. After that, only a few companies issuing
paper-made stock option. The last Chinese paper-made stock option was
issued in 1996.
